Filip Kartelo was born in Zagreb, Croatia. His first contact with photography was through the School of Applied Arts and Design in Zagreb, where he majored in photography, after which he enrolled his studies in sociology and information and communication sciences at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He returned to photography a decade later as trainee at the educational pilot-program within The Cycle project, aimed towards various aspects of photographic legacy management.
His main focus on photographic production has in the meantime shifted towards an interest in building and maintaining systems of documentation and knowledge management. Therefore the PLM program was a perfect combination of the two passions. It was a valuable insight into the preparation and cooperation required to accomplish tasks at wider scale, but also a humbling experience that showcased an immense value that differing perspectives and experiences can contribute to a project.
